After a long hiatus

After a long hiatus, I'm dropping by.

Hey guys! What's up?! OMG! A release?

Really, though, you guys are doing a GREAT job. I can't believe how much is getting done, and I'm sorry I haven't contributed more. Honestly, jrabbit messaged me a week or two ago, and I didn't properly respond. I'm sorry.

I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute in the future, either. Real life is surprisingly demanding. So, while I'm not saying goodbye forever, I did want to say thank you for letting me help with concepts and such early on. It was a great pleasure.

Also, what brought me initially to the site this morning was that I saw the logo over at http://breadpig.com/ and thought "OMG. We can do that!" so... I'll mock up the mouseover, and we can implement it. That may be my last contribution for a long time, though.

Thanks for everything.

Ike

Build 1

Jrabbit edit: https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4439431 Torrent http://alexbobp.servebeer.com/share/ParanoidLinux_alpha-alpha-alpha-alpha.iso HTTP Mirror (please seed!)

Today marks a monumental occasion build one of paranoid linux. Now i'm not going to admit we're anywhere near done, and to quote alexbobp "is "slightly paranoid ubuntu" kind of like "slightly pointy coconut"". Well yes, it is. But being slightly pointy is better than being not point at all (that's basically a Richard Dawkins quote)

So go out, find bugs, report them here and help the distro grow! If anyone knows how to take a ubuntu distro and create an svn tree that we can use to build cd's more quickly, that would be greatly appreciated.

Alpha-Alpha Release In the Works!

We've been working the last couple days to get the foundation laid for the Alpha-Alpha release.

This does not mean we're anywhere near an actual release; however it does mean we're finally moving in that direction. We're still working on many of the details however we're fairly certain that we will be using debian-testing as our base. We just want to make sure that everyone knows that we ARE still alive and we ARE ready to finally get to the fun part of GNU/Linux Distribution.

As always, Stay Paranoid.

Powerking out.

Ping..... PONG! (Kluster, Debian, and Pandas)

Hi, this is a ping to anyone just lurking around. Make sure you are subscribed to our RSS feed.

  • Kluster

Kluster is a platform VMarks has found and we would like to demo it for some decisions in the group. You may need to create an account with them: https://paranoidlinux.kluster.com/ and the "passcode" is "bazaar".

  • Debian

We have strong indications to choose Debian Testing as the distribution we would like to fork from. We will improve security, anonymity, and automatic configuration. Other goals have been passed around.

  • Nothing is final.

Any Interest In the IRC logs?

cuz i have em. dirty. disjointed. days of conversation on end with the most random breaks. but they exist. comments will decide whether or not they get posted.

Chaff is Chaff

A good number of people think that chaff is an important place for us to concentrate. It is not. Here's why.

Halló magyar ember!

Hello Hungarians! Hopefully this site will become translatable for some basic content that explains the website and the project. If you are multi-lingual and would like to help with this effort, please join us on IRC. (#paranoidlinux on irc.freenode.net)

Good day and have a safe one,
Jrabbit

Clarification: What this is all about

ParanoidLinux is about privacy. Your privacy. There are those who would take this basic right away from you without thinking twice.

Our goals are security focused, but not quite with the same meaning as "a computer secure from network attack." Our brand of security is privacy focused.

We want to make it simple to communicate privately with trusted friends with a very high level of assurance that messages cannot be intercepted by a third party. Making secure communications simple and enabled by default is a primary goal of the project.
